ASFP training courses are designed to accommodate all levels of experience in the passive fire protection (PFP) industry, from beginners to seasoned professionals. The training is structured into stages, starting with introductory modules and advancing to qualifications that prepare delegates for Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) Level 2 and Level 3 certifications. ASFP ANZ / IFE Level 2

This Internationally recognised intermediate-level course lays the groundwork for understanding fire safety and fire science. It encompasses selections covering a wide range of passive fire protection systems, that reflect the associated IFE Level 2 Award Qualifications 

The classroom course, delivered by experienced PFP experts, spans five weeks with one full day of lectures per week, covering foundational fire safety and fire science across four selections that mirror the associated IFE awards. Candidates will have to sit all four awards to gain the IFE Level 2 Certificate:

  • Award 1:  Fire protection for the structural frame, fire retardant coating
  • Award 2:  Fire-resisting walls, floors, ceilings, and fire-resistant glazing
  • Award 3: Fire stopping, penetration seals, cavity barriers, ductwork and dampers, and the building envelope
  • Award 4: Fire-resisting doors, industrial shutters, and hardware

Delegates can choose to sit an examination in chosen awards if their involvement in passive fire protection is limited, please contact us for more information. 

ASFP ANZ training specifically targets Australia and New Zealand.

The ASFP ANZ IFE Level 2 training is also available via tutor/teams spanning 7.5 weeks with two 2.5 hour sessions per week or alternatively via the online Self-Paced Course.

ASFP ANZ / IFE Level 3

This Internationally recognised advanced course covers fire safety, fire science, and passive fire protection systems. It prepares participants for the IFE Level 3 certificate in passive fire protection examination. Obtaining this certificate allows learners to apply for Technician-level membership with the IFE, gaining professional recognition globally as TIFireE.

Course Structure

The classroom course, delivered by experienced PFP experts, spans seven days over seven weeks. It provides a comprehensive understanding of fire safety, fire science, and various forms of PFP through four structured modules:

  • Module 1: Essential Underpinning Knowledge
  • Module 2: Installation of Passive Fire Protection
  • Module 3: Understanding Active Fire Protection
  • Module 4: Understanding Regulatory Guidance

Each module is organised into separate units for delegates to be able to continue their studies using provided coursework and reading material.
